Installation Steps:
Step 1:
Find the studs in your wall using a stud finder, and lightly mark their location with a pencil. Stud installation is highly recommended for a secure fit.
Step 2:
Decide where you want to hang your shelf. Hold the mounting bracket against the wall, making sure it’s level. Mark the screw holes on the wall studs with a pencil.
Step 3:
Partially screw the mounting bracket into the wall using the provided screws. Check again that the bracket is level, then fully tighten the screws.
Step 4:
Align the holes on the back of the shelf with the bracket extensions, and slide the shelf into place.
For care, wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid the use of harsh chemicals and household cleaners to protect the finish. Hardware may loosen over time, periodically check that all connections are tight.

Are Urbandi products hand made?
Yes. Every Urbandi piece is made through a hands-on build-to-order process. We use modern tools for precision, but the majority of the work is guided by skilled craftspeople who select, cut, assemble, sand, finish, pack, and inspect each piece with care.
Are Urbandi products made from real wood?
Yes. Urbandi products are made from real solid wood, not MDF, particle board, or cheap veneer. Some pieces, such as certain fireplace mantels, use a hollow solid-wood construction to make installation easier and pricing more accessible while still maintaining real wood quality.
Can Urbandi products be used outside?
Most Urbandi products are designed for indoor use, where temperature and humidity are controlled. Outdoor pieces may be available as custom orders using materials and finishes suited for exterior conditions. Contact our team to discuss your project.
How much weight can Urbandi shelves hold?
Weight capacity depends on shelf size, depth, bracket type, and installation method. On average, floating shelves installed into wall studs with the included brackets can hold 25–55 pounds per stud. Longer or deeper shelves may need additional support brackets.
How do I care for real wood?
Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe spills right away with a slightly damp cloth, then dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh cleaners, abrasive pads, and silicone-based products. Keep real wood away from extreme heat, direct sunlight, and excessive humidity.
How do you choose your raw material suppliers?
We choose suppliers based on material quality, consistency, responsibility, and proximity. For hardwoods, we work with mills in Central Appalachia and trusted regional partners who provide strong, beautiful wood suited for long-lasting furniture and shelving.
My wood has a ton of notches taken out of it and they don’t look natural and it doesn’t look rustic… It looks like it was done intentionally to try to look rustic and instead? came out terrible looking. The tiny little brackets are not going to hold the shelves and there’s no predrilled holes!!! So I have to pre-drill my own holes and also hope that it secured to the wall with the tiny bracket. This order took twice as long as promised, and it was somewhat costly. Not worth it in my eyes, not even for a second.

The shelves are well made and finished except for one major thing: The “distressed” finish consists of 3 gouges per shelf made by a chisel. The rest of the shelf is perfect. The gouges are large and ugly. Don’t recommend this “finish”.
Love these shelves! But one of them has such a big gap. And no it’s not the wall the other one that I bought was all good. Do recommend. Just maybe better quality control.
Love the shelves. I picked the darker color to coordinate with our darker hardwood floors. I love how they turned out. I had ordered Pottery Barn shelves for my previous home. And the quality was just not as nice as these. Instillation is fairly straightforward. I would definitely order from Urbandi again if I ever have a project that would need floating shelves.
Shelves arrived well packaged in a couple weeks. Urbandi kept me informed of progress in making them and shipping them. Distressed look isn’t exactly like photos, it’s more like random chunks of wood removed from the shelf haphazardly but looks fine and still worked for my purposes. Color matched my kitchen well and I’m very happy with the shelves. My builders decided to reinforce the supports that the shelves cover because the shelves are intended to hold a number of heavy glass bottles.
I purchased floating shelves that I was so happy with that I purchased another shelf that we used for our mantle. Very happy with this product!! Easy to install and beautiful!
Great experience and shelves are beautiful. Support team was awesome I was going to be on vacation when they were going to ship and I had them hold the shelves to ship on a certain date and they did exactly what I asked.
We love the quality and construction of the shelves. I expected a little more distressing. The picture on your website shows some darker areas. Ours have a few places where the wood was chipped out but no other distressed spots.
This is not distressed in a traditional sense. There are just gouges in the flat wood, does not have a weathered look. Also the bracket is wood and not as string as the other shelves with metal bracket.
I like the straight shelves but the 3 inch distressed is not the same quality as the 1.5 floating shelves.
These items are described as “distressed” and pictured accordingly, but what I received doesn’t match what I purchased. To me, they are simply marked with gashes. There were two gashes on each side, but they don’t appear to be distressed as pictured. however, I do find that the shelves are made really well and have already re-ordered a different style..they also were shipped and packaged well.
Love the quality! It was worth the wait. Urbandi did an amazing job packaging my floating shelves. The only thing I would say is that I had to wait almost a month for them to arrive.
The shelves are beautiful; we needed to add extra posts to secure it. The wait was longer than anticipated but well worth it - I would buy again. They are spendy, but I am super pleased with the purchase.
This is not distressed wood, this is just a big gauge, very disappointing. Poorly done. You should change your description and if you are unable to actually create the look of distressed wood do not offer it.
Absolutely beautiful. There used to be a large cabinet in here with a microwave in the center was so ugly and now the whole thing is opened up by these shelves that are so well done I was just amazed. Good job guys
This was beyond “distressed look”. Major gashes and splinters in the wood. Took 4 weeks to arrive, after placing the order. Looked so bad was forced to return it.
Shelves were not as distressed as I anticipated - much more smooth and flat.. The color (I ordered ‘provincial’) is much more of a yellow/chocolate brown, than the more cherry tint brown that is shown in the photos. I know photos and stain can vary from each piece.
Aside from that, they seem to be very well made and sturdy.
We ordered the Jacobson 72" mantle and 2 matching shelves. Completely change our fireplace. 100% one of the best investments we have made in our home. Quality craftsmanship and a great new look.
These shelves are perfect. We used them to complete a coffee bar area. They match some beams in our ceiling as well as stools at our counter. They helped to blend it all together. Great craftsman ship and easy to install on or wall.

I love these 3” chunky shelves. I do wish the brackets were stronger to prevent the downward tip. The brackets were carefully and securely installed. They were level before placing display items. Then they dipped slightly. I went back and reinforced with a support screw.
But they are a great looking shelf and really well made.
