Each URBANDI Natural Hardwood Ready to Stain Floating Shelf is handcrafted in Ohio from premium, furniture-grade Ash, Maple, White Oak or Walnut hardwood.

All of our hardwoods are locally sourced from the Central Appalachian region of Ohio.

And goes into production the next day.

Since we control our entire process onsite and locally source our materials, we can focus on the finer details of our quality process.  

1. HAND SELECT WOOD - Your wood is hand selected for the best quality, character and charm.
2. CUTTING - It sounds simple, but precision is key to meet your exact specifications. 
3. ASSEMBLY - Since we allow for the proper amount of curing time, this step takes 5 hours.
4. REFINING - While many imperfections are actually part of the unique character of each piece of wood, some imperfections are flaws. So we go to additional steps to correct them.
5. SANDING - This is a two step process starting with automation followed by hand sanding to ensure your solid wood piece is just right.
6. FINISHING - Your piece comes to life with staining and finishing to ensure just the right look.
7. PACK & SHIP - The last step in our Build-To-Order sustainable process, is hand packing your personalized order. To ensure your order arrives safety and in a timely manner, we use UPS and FedEx.
8. RECYCLING - Through our Build-To-Order 7-step sustainable process, over 75% of our waste is recycled or repurposed working with local farmers who use our wood shavings for their barns and stables.

This entire Built-To-Order process for your Natural Hardwood Floating Shelf can range from three to five days.

Our goal is to create and deliver the highest quality, solid wood, personalized piece that will complement and elevate your space.

Wall mounted, space efficient design requires advanced engineering to deliver quality and performance in one package.

Our Urbandi MAX heavy-duty hidden bracket system is engineered for exceptional support. When properly installed, shelf capacity is up to 40 lbs per stud depending on shelf length, mounting configuration, and the number of wall studs available. 

Using forged US Steel which is stronger and made from up 90% recycled steel, each Urbandi MAX shelf bracket is made in-house and can hold up to 40 lbs per stud or up to 120 lbs (based on three studs).

And to provide a beautiful and durable finish, we exclusively use commercial grade finishes plus protective clear coat for years of enjoyment. 

Apply Pre-Stain Conditioner (Recommended): Apply a pre-stain wood conditioner to prevent blotchy, uneven absorption. Allow it to penetrate for 5–15 minutes before wiping off excess.

Natural Finish - Seal: To enjoy the beauty of sold hardwood, simply apply a protective finish like polyurethane.

To Stain: Stir the stain (do not shake). Apply it in the direction of the grain using a rag, foam brush, or bristle brush. Let it sit for 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the desired darkness—longer sit times result in darker, richer colors.

Wipe Excess and Seal: Wipe off all excess stain with a clean, lint-free cloth. Do not let stain dry on the surface, as it will become sticky and uneven. Let it dry for at least 24 hours, then apply a protective finish like polyurethane.

Tools You'll Need:

• Tape measure
• Stud finder
• Pencil
• Level
• Drill

Installation Steps:

Step 1:

Find the studs in your wall using a stud finder, and lightly mark their location with a pencil. Stud installation is highly recommended for a secure fit.

Step 2:

Decide where you want to hang your shelf. Hold the mounting bracket against the wall, making sure it’s level. Mark the screw holes on the wall studs with a pencil.

Step 3:

Partially screw the mounting bracket into the wall using the provided screws. Check again that the bracket is level, then fully tighten the screws.

Step 4:

Align the holes on the back of the shelf with the bracket extensions, and slide the shelf into place.

To care of your Natural Hardwood Floating Shelf, wipe with a soft, dry cloth.

To protect finish, avoid the use of harsh chemicals and household cleaners.

Please note, hardware may loosen over time. Periodically check that all connections are tight.
