I wish they listed in the description how unfinished these contemporary mantels are. The surface is very rough to the touch and likely to cause splinters, the color is not like the one shown in the picture. Honestly I felt a bit misled and probably would not recommend this to a friend.

Great for the price, very light and pretty, but the wood inside to mount it was warped pretty heavily and had a crack so we had to cut our own mounting piece.

Really wanted to love the mantle and shelves we ordered but the color is just off! Pros-easy ordering, fast shipping, easy installation. Cons-Uneven staining, color appeared different in person, and lots of dark knots. I know the material is pine but for a “contemporary” mantle I thought they’d choose pieces of wood that didn’t have those dark knots on them. The color of pine pulled much more red tones than advertised pictures and it just doesn’t work with our hardwood flooring color. Customer service was fast to respond when I asked about returns but the return shipping was half the cost of the product itself. I’m stuck with the mantle and shelves, either have to sand and restain or do a paint wash. Order a sample color first and know that the pine material pulls a lot of yellow or red that may not be shown on their website. You can see in the photos I uploaded the mantle looks swirled with different colors due to the uneven absorption or nature of the wood.

I do not quite know how I found Urbandi, but I am so grateful it came up in my Google search! I had an image in my mind of what I wanted and was looking for a mantle exactly like this and had no idea where to find it. Urbandi popped up and there it was! I read about their company and was pleasantly pleased they are located in our neighboring state. We haven’t had the mantle installed yet, but I have a company that will clean our glass and install the mantle. I will also purchase some floating shelves to make a custom media center next to our fireplace. I cannot wait for it all to come together! We’re having the middle level of the house painted, so, when it’s done we will install everything. So grateful to have found this company! The workmanship, wood, and staining are exceptional. Im disappointed in my purchase. First , it took much longer to arrive than i have anticipated. Seconf , it had a hole in the mantel. I have reached out to customer service and they informed me to email . I emailed and let them know that there was damage to the mantel and I would like to exchange. There response was that they need pictures.They cannot help me without pictures. I then emailed letting them know that I had a timeframe and it didnt reach in my time frame to start with so the exchange will take even longer so i would like a refund. But i have heard no response from them . I am very dissapointed in the product ans the service.

It’s a beautiful wood mantel. It does have a rough finish but acceptably so. It was wobbly after mounting. It was suggested to screw in through the top which we did but it didn’t work, so we glued the mantle to its support with Gorilla construction adhesive and it’s very sturdy. Definitely updated the old brick fireplace.

Since the wall wasn't flat, installation created some challenges. Solution was to drill holes in mortar joints, insert epoxy coated 3/4" wood dowels for screw anchoring. Even our architect son gave his approval of your mantle. Looks great.

Product was nice in general but from the staining process the wood was ruff, not smooth and there were spots in the stain that was messed up. So I decided to finish sand it and apply another coat of stain to finish it out so that it looked more complete.

I’m very disappointed with the mantel. The staining in the wood is inconsistent and in places the wood is only partially stained. There are a lot of black knots in the wood. I’ll likely try to sand it down and restain it myself as I don’t have time to send it back. Overall it doesn’t look as advertised.

I purchased a 36 inch mantle color aged barrel in February. When we put it up over the fireplace we noticed it looked shorter than we thought it would. We had it up a few months and decided we needed to get a longer mantle. I called and I was told I could not exchange it because it was pass the time allotted. I then purchased the 54 inch aged barrel but it was an a lighter shade from the 36 inch mantle. We are fine with keeping the lighter shade Mantle but are disappointed that we were not able to get at least a partial credit for the 36 inch mantle we now have sitting in the garage.

Looks beautiful! Love the graining and color. Installed it on a brick fireplace with tile overlay (so there was lots to drill through). We had to get special drill bits to get the screws in but other than that we had everything we needed to put it up. Super happy with the results.

Since it was not “rustic” or “reclaimed”, I was expecting a smooth finish and a more polished look. It could have used another sanding and a finish coat to make it look like the pictures. It worked for our needs, however.

I’m not sure about the quality. The French Cleat was warped making installation tricky. A number of the finish nails are flush and visible.

I haven’t installed it since I’m retiling my fireplace. Looks really good and the install looks very easy. Although the packaging seemed adequate there were 2 small dings on the corners of the mantel. I emailed customer support and they were very responsive offering me 3 corrective measures any of which would have been fine. One of the options was to be shipped stain and repair myself. I chose that option but they were also happy to provide a refund or replacement

The wedge type mounting system has much to be desired. I mounted it on a brick fireplace with no problems. But when I put the mantel over the wedge I could not get it to sit properly. No matter how I tried to get it sitting right it was a very Sloppy fit. I put up many shelves and similar items in my lifetime, but never one so poorly designed. I don't believe I will be purchasing anything else from this company.

The website says bracket included. From looking at competitive products we assumed that the bracket was metal. The bracket was a piece of wood that needs to be screwed to the wall. This is very disappointing as we need to install the mantle on a tiled fireplace. Now I understand why they don’t show a picture. Seriously, a piece of wood. Not happy with this purchase at all. In addition to this, it cost us an additional $125 in duties (Canada). Now, we need to find a “modern” metal bracket that will cost us even more money.

The mantle arrived in a glove-fitted packaging, the whole thing felt very custom-made which is awesome. The color turned out a little bit darker than I expected but it’s a good way. Size is perfect and it works great for our fireplace area where we recently remodeled.

AWFUL QUALITY. The French cleat is crooked and warped, looks to be made from scrap pine and to have been crafted by a ten-year old. So the mantle won’t hang level and isn’t supported across the entire width, only where the cleat makes contact. Truly awful quality. I’ll be building my own shelf and throwing this one away.
